I went a week or so ago and it was locked up at lunch. Didn't see a note and the phone had been disconnected so it doesn't look good... If it is permanently closed it is a real shame because they had some really good Korean food!
Appreciate you.
Kimchi comes as an appetizer but you can order it separately. They have take out but they don't deliver

Great authentic Korean food! Home style grandma cooking (literally).
First time eating at Koreana. The was great and the service wonderful. If you are in Colonial Heights stop b .
The food was so good and the ladies that work there are super helpful and want to teach you as much as they can and super willing to ask any questions you have. I had the Jeyuk (spicy pork and vegetables) and it came with all these delicious marinated vegetables and kimchi. My husband had the Dolsot and we ordered mandu as an appetizer. Everything was delicious and you can’t go wrong ordering anything on the menu. Feel free to ask lots of questions and try something new.
This place is the worst. Customer service is more come in, stand for a few, than seat yourself. Tried to order a meal, and server lady convinced me to just get the Korean bbq meal @ $20 a person.. the best part, no to go plates for the bbq, but you can get to go plates for the $10 and under meals. The food wasnt great, and there are plenty of flies flying around. Will never return here.. Save yourself, your belly and your wallet. Go elsewhere.
Really good, new chef, new menu. Authentic Korean! Only 4 stars cause they're still working on the menu
Food was AMAZING!!! Highly recommend and the service was great. Went with a large group and the food came out fresh and made to order quickly.
Great, authentic food. Amazing service, our 10 month old was treated like a king. Will definitely be returning.
Just not authentic!! Only get 6 bonchon.. big no no! The interior and the people who own are authentic but the food is seriously lacking. 2 stars because the food was hot and the owner was nice
Excellent place. Owner was happy to see us & discuss the different plates.Yummy!!!!
Delicious, authentic Korean food. It tasted just like when we lived in Korea! Haven't had Korean food taste this good for such a reasonable price in a very long time. The pajeon had a wonderful, crispy edge and the Dolsot Bibimbap came out sizzling. Great side (banchan) dishes, too!
I went to the restaurant based of the 4 star rating which was based off of 112 reviews . The food was horrible no flavor at all and the menu was slim. The sides they bring to the table was nothing like I’ve had at other Korean restaurants before. Upon leaving we found out the restaurant had only been open for 5 days. How they got a 4 star rating with 112 reviews in 5 days, the world may never know! Save your money!! Also they don’t have soju as they are advertising in the restaurant or in the picture.
Food amazing. I went by myself, and the lady was ensuring I had everything I need.
This place is absolutely amazing. My friends and I decide to stop by for some lunch and now I can not stop thinking about it. If you are looking for great KBBQ, this is the spot.
Very friendly staff. 1st time eating Korean but was very good & chef adjusted spicy level to taste. I want to try their lunch buffet next as I will be back. UPDATE: My fellow Warrant Officer brotheren tried the buffet Friday & were very disappointed to the fact that they got up and left because food on buffet was so bad and even cold. Hostess didn't charge them but told them to just leave. I'm feel so bad about telling them about my 1st experiment & recommending it.
WOW!!!! I wasn't expecting much from the storefront, but the food was AMAZING, and the server was SO FRIENDLY! Certainly a worthwhile place to stop if you're open to trying extremely authentic Korean Food. I had the Dolsot Bibimbap, which was astoundingly good.
Love this family owned restaurant.Original rating 8 months ago was for the original owners who sold the business due to family related issues. The new owners went through growing pains, but they are gradually building their menu. The food has improved by leaps and bounds since they first reopened the restaurant and the family atmosphere is back. We love this restaurant.
Very good food. I got a pork dish with h mixed vegetables and it was very flavorful. My wife got a bowl that was good but needed some seasoning. They also put a variety of different vegetables on the table to share which were good. My only small complaint is they sell soda by the can at $2 each which is way overpriced so we both got water. Overall excellent food and I would definitely go again.
My husband and I was stationed at camp Humphreys for 2 years and now stationed here in Virginia this place has filled my bugolgi crave and the kimchi is ridiculously awesome!! Very clean, friendly and definitely a place we will continue to go to with our family 💗 service was outstanding the waitress was very polite! Jenny is Amazing!
Very nice restaurant good food and nice service.
I have tried Koreana several times and it is always a great experience. The owner is very nice and funny! The main dishes are great and the extra side dishes (banchan?) are excellently seasoned/marinated. Don't be afraid to try something new.
I've always loved it here. It's good to see it open again and the food is just as excellent as I remembered. For authentic Korean food in the Colonial Heights area, I don't think you can beat the Koreana.
Great Food! Chill atmosphere! I don’t think anyone would be disappointed eating at Koreana’s.
Great food and the staff took care of us. Try the all you can eat menu, it’s worth the price.
The food is great! Only problem is you have to get there at a good time when they are not too busy. They don’t have enough employees to sustain a lunch hour rush. So you may be waiting longer then usual.
Ok, this is my favorite little spot. It's authentic, the people are friendly & accommodating, (they allow me to practiceme Korean)and the food is what I image it would taste like if I were really in Korea. Didn't want to share tbh, but I'd rather have the place have more customers that appreciate the realness & deliciousness.
Highly recommend this place. Close to the highway, amazing meat quality, all of the side dishes are delicious, and they also have a great selection of soju! At $20/head for unlimited KBBQ it was definitely worth it!
Decent food and staff is always welcoming
Omg best Korean food ever hands down
After they changed main chef and new management, Food is amazing and also price is reasonable. $19.99 for unlimited pork belly(sam gyup sal), Beef brisket (cha dol) and stir fried chicken( dak gal-bi)! a lot of portion and good service. Very comport and cozy. Also offers military discount :)! Came 5 times and still want to come more.
March 30, 2019: Having eaten at Koreana for more than 30 years, it remains one of the best, most-delicious, and most-healthy meals you can find in Southside Virginia. If you love chain food or require chicken tenders in honey, go elsewhere - tempura sweet potato slices are as sweet as it gets. Go here if you are OPEN to something totally different. ("I have no idea what this is, but it's YUMMY!")
Use to be my favorite place for a good lunch. Since management changed, it's very disappointing. Food is not fresh, selection on buffet is very limited, quality of food is poor. Gave them 2 tries and both were disappointing. Will not try a third time as it appears this is their new standard.
Atmosphere is great, food is great. Seems to be only one person handling everything and Don't get me wrong she is very sweet! Only reason I will not give it a full five stars is because building isn't sufficient for such great food, and tables seems to get slightly "sticky" due to the humidity in the building. Carpet is unappealing for an elegant dine-in experience, some of the tables seemed to be in the aged area where they are chipped, and last but not least, I like the burners in the tables because I've used them before in Korea but they are unused here for reasons unknown which takes the traditional setting off by a bit.
New owners opened last week. Had lunch buffet. No seaweed soup. No egg drop. Only had spicy chicken. no sushi. Ordered hot tea. came in a water glass. I've never seen that no pot of tea with tea cup.Got cold fast. They did take tea off of my bill. Kim Chi not the same. Price went up to $11.95 + drink. I started going when they were a take out in Walnut Mall.Over 30 years ago I want to give it one more try but need to find out if hot tea is still served in a water glass.Phone busy (off hook ) for last hour. New owners not Kin of old owners. Not the same cook. What a shame.
The food is awesome! I don’t understand why some people are giving bad reviews, I’ve been here about 10 times, and everything I tried was delicious every time!! I’ve been to several different Korean restaurants, and this one is the best tasting with fresh ingredients, reasonable prices and very nice people!! I will be going back very soon.
I have tried Koreana several times and it is always a great experience. The owner is very nice and funny! The main dishes are great and the extra side dishes (banchan?) are excellently seasoned/marinated. Don't be afraid to try something new.
Good food the lady even grilled the meat for us by our table.
Good food, quiet atmosphere. Customer Service could have been a little better.
So much food. Pork belly was delicious
This place is under new management and their service and food are amazing! Please give them a visit and try them out! ❤️
Please beware when you go to this resturant. Their prices are a little too expensive and the service is okay not the best. I went alone ordered the bibimbop, mandu, and had one beer and paid $30.00 way to expensive for one individual. I understand its Korean but really? I also asked do you honor military discounts and the owner said not today didn't know it was offered certain days, either you do or you don't.
It was an amazing experience. The kimchi was fresh and the meat was cooked to perfection. The staff is very welcoming and the atmosphere is family friendly. Would definitely come back
Really good but as of 01/16/2020 not open, it seems. I have tried to eat there twice, during the week, during lunch hours and each time the door has been locked with no notice as to why they are closed, when they are open or if they will ever be open again☹️.
Great fresh tasting Korean food. Ate the lunch buffet. Everything was good. Small variety but excellent in taste.
Customer service wasnt the best
Have been in the area several times and never really paid any attention to this place. Stoped in tonight for dinner and was very surprised. From the outside you wouldn’t expect it to look so nice. I love the wood walls and the tables! I was concerned by us being the only ones there but it’s under new management so I’m assuming people haven’t found it yet. The food was good but I was kinda uncertain about the chicken by the way it looked otherwise the chicken fried rice was good. It was good portions. The items they put on the table were not anything of our taste. My fiancé loved the shrimp fried rice and the soup. The rice dishes would have been better if they had teriyaki sauce. They also didn’t have everything on the menu. Overall fair meal price was super cheap! Waiter was nice.
Just stopped by for the buffet and was informed by the new management that they do not offer it anymore.Edit: Decided to order off the menu, only one noodle bowl available. Waitress was well informed and helpful though. A little more pricey than before, menu prices start around $8.00.
Awesome authentic food. Tastes like this is really what they cook for their family! Very attentive and knowledgeable staff. They are a new family taking over from the previous owners. I have been going for many years and although the food tastes different I think they are really getting in the swing of things. Every time I go back things are a little better. Please give this family a chance and keep this wonderful Korean location open.
Food delicious and the boss she so friendly. Yummy 😋
Food quality was ok, but I don't think I'll be going back any time soon.
Good food but only 1 server so Service took a while
